Of the Indian Middle Class

The crux of the Middle Class worries in India is that it is neither poor enough to demand attention, nor rich enough to carry law makers in their pockets!

The result of which is that the engine of India's boom, the middle class, is ignored by governments in power and by politicians vying to be in power alike!

The middle class needs to play the dirty game, championed by the politicians – the necessary evil of democracy – vote bank politics. Until the middle class makes it count itself as a powerful vote bank, it will be constantly ignored! The middle class needs to participate in bigger numbers in the elections to make its vote count! The politicians are power hungry and this is not going to change in the near or distant future. As such, to get policies / laws which are not against the middle class, the middle class needs to emerge as the so-called king maker!

Minority appeasing policies, reservation quotas policies, all will eventually affect the middle class. And to bend the government to look into the middle class problems you need to be able to decide the government’s fate in an election.

Love it or hate it, but to fight the mess, you need to play dirty!
